Christmas 2012!

On Christmas morning Kate woke us up around 7:00.  It didn't take long for Cohen to wake up.  Kelly likes to get a fire started and the video camera ready so they had to wait for a few minutes.  I put Kate down to go in and take a picture of their faces which she did not like, so as you can tell she was crying the whole way in.  She had no interest in all the new toys in the living room, she only wanted me to hold her.  After a few minutes she was better and would actually look at the new stuff.  She loved her new car, but really loved the kitty that would run while she chased it.  She would squeal and just run after the kitty and something in the toy senses it and will keep rolling.  She got a little frustrated but it was so funny to watch her.  Cohen liked her new bike but did not like the fact that she couldn't ride it on the carpet.  Since it was raining we had to wait to go out and ride.  She loved her new Wii games and Leapster games and wanted to make sure she and Kate could share the new baby pack & play.  We had a fun morning at home and then got ready to head to Bebe's house for a yummy brunch!

new wheels!
Cohen loved her stocking the most.  Showing me her new Barbie toothbrushes.

Mama had made the best breakfast!  We had a great time eating together and opening gifts.  We are all going to Disney World in February so that was part of everyone's Christmas.  Cohen was excited to get her very first American girl doll and Kate got a Bitty Baby.  Kate actually opened hers first and Cohen looked at me and said, "Woah, Mama, that's an American Girl baby.  I'm going to have to take care of that for her."  She was excited when she got her own but I think she is still taking care of Kate's when Kate isn't holding the baby.  I guess she's heard me talk about how you have to take such good care of those dolls.   I wanted a picture of the girls with my mama and didn't get one so I'll do that on New Years!

Cheers with Sissy!
We finished our day at Sug & Pop's in the afternoon and then over to Suzy's that night.  I really enjoyed our entire day and the girls hung in there too.  Kate had a few short cat naps but did really well.  She crashed once we got home though and wasn't able to be up when we did Christmas with just us.  Cohen was so excited to open her gift from Kate which was a fun princess play-do set.  Now I'm still in clean up mode.  It comes and goes so fast!

Got to have the funny picture

Another funny...for Suzy and Cohen at least

Christmas Eve 2012

We had a great Christmas Eve!  I had an early morning photo session and then we came home to get ready to deliver some Christmas goodies.  We took the girls to see a few shut-ins and then to the assisted living home to visit a few of the ladies from our church who stay there.  We had a great visit and I think everyone enjoyed it.  Cohen had been so excited to share some of the cookies we had baked.  After we got back home we got ready for the Christmas Eve service at church.  Both girls go in the service with us and I have to say, Kate gave us (and everyone else in the service I'm sure) a good laugh.  Suzy sings in the choir and when Kate saw her she was so excited.  She had already picked out some of our family before the service started but it must have been a few minutes into it when she actually noticed it was Suzy sitting in the choir loft and from then on she just squealed "Suzeee" over and over.  It was cute but very noticeable.  I know Suzy loved it too!
After church we went to Sug & Pop's for Christmas Eve dinner.  Sug always goes all out on a very delicious meal!  Pop reads "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and we always get to open a special ornament from Aunt Vicki.  This year the girls got Georgia ornaments.  They were so precious!  The cutest thing was when Kate opened hers and saw the ornament and said "dooo dogs".  Proud Mommy moment :)  Kelly got the next GA ornament in the series Aunt Vicki gives him and I got a pretty Georgia ornament too!  I'm set on decorating a Georgia tree next year and these will go nicely on it!

We left Sug & Pop's to hurry and get home to put out our reindeer food and cookies for Santa.  Kelly pulled the Santa tracker up on the iPad and when Cohen saw that Santa was in Canada and we told her that wasn't too far away, she was in a panic to get the food out and go to bed.  It was a fun end to a fun night!

Sleepover Fun, Cookie Party, & Christmas at Nana's

Thursday night Cohen had her best friend Josie over for a sleepover.  She had been counting down the days for her to come.  We had made plans as soon as school was out for her to come.  Josie is in kindergarten this year and Cohen sure misses her at school.  These two had such a fun time together!  I have to admit I laugh just listening to their conversations.  They had a fashion show and dance show with dress-up clothes, played Barbies and babies, and were even nice enough to play with Kate.  I think Kate really felt big around these older girls.  After Kate went to bed I let the girls have some hot chocolate and this is where the conversation got interesting.  Cohen and Josie kept finding similarities in themselves and then suddenly became convinced that they were really sisters.  Here are the things they told me they had just alike:
  • same color eyes, skin, and hair
  • they both had a little "spot" near their eye
  • there noses were the same shape
  • they wore the same shoe size
  • their teeth were close together
  • they each had a sister with blue eyes so they thought they (Georgia & Kate) could be sisters
  • they both have something they love to sleep with
I was trying so hard not to laugh at them.  They were so serious.  I even snapped a picture of their "serious" faces but Cohen was holding back a smile.  All night and the next day they kept finding more ways they were alike and thought they were sisters.  All I can say is the world better watch out for these  two!

Serious faces thinking hard about being sisters
Friday I took both girls to their friend Brooke's house for a cookie decorating party.  They had tons of fun adding sprinkles to their cookies.  They also made gingerbread houses.  I have never been good at those so I'm glad Cohen got to make one there :)  I told Jennifer, Brooke's mom, that she was a trooper to have these kids making all kinds of cookies and gingerbread houses!  They really enjoyed it though.  Cohen was very proud of her house but of course when we actually moved it the walls fell in.  It was a fun time though.  Kate loved being able to sit at the table and eat!  While the older kids were using their crackers to build a house, she was eating away at her crackers.  The party was during her usual nap time so I was just thankful she stayed in a good mood and didn't have a melt down.

We finished our Friday night with our family Christmas dinner at Nana's house.  We had wonderful food and had fun being with family!  The girls got to open their first Christmas gifts.  Another thing I have been meaning to blog about is Cohen's new found love of nutcrackers.  We were at Nana's house about a week ago and Cohen fell in love with one of Nana's nutcrackers on the mantle.  It was so funny  that Nana gave it to her.  She just hugged on this nutcracker and has played with it!  My sister then gave her 2 more that she had gotten from work.  Cohen has loved them...my little Clara!  Well last night Nana gave her a new big nutcracker that was a football player.  Cohen has loved football so much this year since her GA game trips so this was a great gift for her.  She has named her nutcracker Aaron :)  It is so funny that she loves them so but I think we have a new Christmas item to collect each year.  I have really noticed some beautiful ones so maybe we can get more after Christmas on sale :)

Her new nutcracker!

When we were packing up to leave we couldn't find Cohen anywhere.  At first it wasn't a big deal but when she wasn't in Uncle Davis' room we started to wonder.  Pop quickly looked under Nana's bed and decided to play along with her since she was under there hiding!  She loves to hide and scare someone!  He did start giving us hints so I got my camera ready.  Kelly lifted the bed skirt and I snapped hoping it would work...it did!  This is exactly how she looked, waiting to be found!  Nutcracker and all!
