Amelia Island Part 2

The rest of our vacation was pretty much like the first 2 days...wake up, beach/pool, eat, beach, eat, play games, some kind of nightly entertainment and then repeat.  We had told Bryce on Tuesday that we would plan for putt-putt on Thursday night and he would wake up talking about it.  Thursday morning he actually came into our room and the first words out of his mouth were "tonight we get to play putt-putt."  I love that kid!  Wednesday I believe was the day Kate met her friend and like I said, these 2 hit it off.  We were no fun for Kate after she met Emmy.  They would both get their nets and go to town.  They had pools for their fish and buckets for everything.  They really occupied themselves.  They would break for some play time in the waves but not for long!

Day 4:
Net and sunglasses...she's all ready

practice time

Bryce had us all laughing because he came out of the water worried why he had spots on him...it was the sunscreen we had just reapplied on him.

Trying to capture some last moments of just the 3 of them...I think my emotions are kicking in overtime!

The full moon was this week and while this picture does it absolutely no justice since it was with my phone, you can see how beautiful it is!  This night we were hunting crabs

Day 5:
starting their hole to be buried in

All buried!

Bryce was able to sit on them!

Finally getting to play putt-putt!

Day 6:
I didn't take many pictures today other than Bryce being in timeout and playing in the water shortly after.   He can be a mess.  We soaked up our last day and stayed out as long as we could.  Kate almost broke my heart telling me how sad she was having to say goodbye to her friend Emmy.  She said she thought she might cry...it was so sad but luckily I never saw her cry.  Who knows we may run into them next year down here because they come each year too.  We ended our night at our favorite ice cream place, DeNucci's.  They too have Dole Whips in different flavors so we always go there at least twice!  Now we are packing up and getting ready to head back home tomorrow.  I know we have a busy rest of the summer and I'm excited about the thought that this baby will be coming anytime really.  But part of me knows that with all the busyness that comes with school starting and definitely with a new baby that I'm going to be wishing for these relaxing beach days.  Even if I am fat and miserable!    I cherish these vacations with my family so much and I sat every day on this beach trip memorizing what my kids looked like at this age and loving every part of them.  I don't do well with change so picturing our unknown future has me all over the place!  But we loved our week at Amelia Island and can't wait to make more memories here in the future!

he loved throwing his shark into the waves and watching it come back to him

Not loving how big he looks here! But this boy has my heart for sure and my people out there in those waves do too!

Amelia Island Part 1

We have been having an awesome time this week in Amelia Island.  This is one of our favorite beaches and we love spending time here every summer.  Its been a little different being here 36 weeks pregnant but I can't think of a better place to sit and relax.  We got here last Saturday and got into beach mode right away.   We really started all our beach fun on Sunday.  Kate did what she loves to do, grabbed her net and was ready to find any animal she could.  She caught fish every day and even found a shrimp and fish eggs.  She amazes me with what she can catch in her net.  Cohen brought her best friend Josie this year and these 2 spent their time boogie boarding,  playing bocce ball and volleyball, and Cohen even had to practice with her batons each day on the beach.  No rest with a competition coming up.  They had a blast though and we had a blast right along with them.  Bryce, he played his heart out with everyone.  He loves the waves, loves playing with Kate's fish, and loves to play ball.  Later in the week Kate met a friend and they hit it off big time.  She also had a little sister that Bryce would play with too.  The sweetest thing was this little girl coming over to Bryce asking if he wanted to play trucks with her.  So sweet!
On the way down Bryce was so worried about when we would cross the bridge.  He looked and asked the whole way down if the bridge was close.

Day 1:

balcony conversations

Day 2:
We always have to have bike riding time.  In fact one night riding we had a lady who decided she wanted to yell at us for being on the cart path!  We never saw her but we heard her and she had us laughing.

snails and sand bugs...Kate is in heaven

Bryce loved waving to the beach helicopters that came by each day

This boy has decided he loves "Dr. Coke" as he calls Diet Coke

Sunday was also my birthday and what better way to celebrate than being relaxed on the beach.
Kate had got a pair of sunglasses at Target and she wore these glasses all week!  Inside, outside, she loved her glasses!
Monday night we went to one of my favorite restaurants down here, The Salty Pelican.  You can see the sunglasses were out in full force.

Bryce was proud of his picture and wanted me to take a picture of it.  Love this boy!

When we got home Kate wanted to go on a frog hunt so we did.  We had several in the bucket and actually found probably the biggest frog I've ever seen!  She had her net on it in 2 seconds and was able to catch it.  This picture doesn't do it justice but this thing was huge!

On Tuesday we broke up our week with a trip to St. Augustine.  Kelly has always wanted to go and we've always talked about it.  This year we did it.  It was so hot though.  I think being pregnant the temperature is magnified for me but we all were pretty hot.  We had a nice ride down.  We went through Ponte Vedra beach and I think everyone picked out a mansion for themselves.  In St. Augustine we went to see the Fountain of Youth and everyone had a drink.   I told the kids I've always wanted to find a way to keep them young!  Bryce wasn't impressed with how the water tasted and kept taking a sip then pouring the water out of his cup.  But then we would look over and he would be back filling it up again.
not so sure about the adventure...our first stop was crossing the ferry in the car.  Bryce was not sure about that but ended up loving it!
The park had peacocks everywhere.  I think this was what the kids loved the most.  Bryce is still talking about the peacocks!

St. Augustine had Dole Whips so that was just what we needed to cool down!
