January Catch Up

January is probably my least favorite month of the year because you are on a come down from the holidays and it is cold!  There isn't much outside time in January but we have managed to have a little fun this month :)  The girls have had a couple of birthday parties to go to and both were skating parties.  By the second one Cohen was picking up the whole skating concept and she has now even asked for roller skates for her own upcoming birthday.  It was fun watching her learn.  I will admit at the first party she gave up pretty quick and I was over hearing her complain.  At the second one I had warned her about any crying or complaining and she didn't do either.  She had a great attitude and worked hard at trying to skate.  Much more successful!  Kate was a hoot to watch as well.  She had toddler skates that you more or less walk in but she loved it.  She always is so positive and happy no matter what and I hope to goodness that lasts!    Here are some pictures from both parties...

Cohen did much better at this one...here she is maintaining her balance!

These kiddos have been friends (& neighbors)  from the beginning
We also got to have more bowling fun with some of our friends.  Cohen has also become a bowling lover!  Here she and Kingsley are getting ready to bowl!

January is also time for JanFest!!  This is an auxiliary clinic hosted by the UGA Auxiliary.  Cohen goes for a day of baton learning!  She was so excited to attend again this year.  I think she was excited because this year she knew what to expect.  We left early last Saturday morning and headed to Athens.  The clinic lasts from 8:30-3:00 so it is all day but she had a blast and was excited to show me some new tricks she had learned.  I only stayed for a couple of hours this year.  I ran some errands, went to see Nana, and then had to leave Athens to meet my friends to head to Atlanta for our Hot Chocolate run.  Kelly picked her up and made sure he videoed her performance so I could see it.  I was so glad she enjoyed herself.  I was also glad that these pictures were taken that day!

Hot Chocolate 15K!

Sunday I accomplished something I never thought I would, and I got to do it with some of my best friends!  It was the Atlanta Hot Chocolate race and this was my 3rd year doing it, only this year instead of doing the 5k, we were doing the 15k!  To translate, that is running 9.5 miles vs. 3.1.   Back in the fall when sign ups came, I was very pregnant and I guess already motivated to get back into running so I convinced my girlfriends that we could do the 15k instead of the 5.  They also were giving medals out this year for the 15 so that was another enticer.  I have never ran that far in my life and only the week before did we run 8 miles.  BUT...with all that being said,  I have now ran 9.5 miles without stopping, the longest distance and lived to tell about it! haha!   Dawn and I ran together the entire race and she definitely kept me motivated.  We ran through the street and HILLS of Atlanta and it was so fun to finish together!  Dawn and I have done the race together all 3 years.  The first year it was just the 2 of us.  Its a fun race to do and it gives us a great excuse for a girls weekend!  This year there was 7 of us and we had a blast.  There is nothing like laughing with a bunch of fun ladies, and that we did!  I think these girls trips keep us all sane and make us appreciate our families at home that much more.
We left Saturday afternoon, headed to the packet pick-up and then checked into our hotel.  We ate and talked, talked, and talked!  We did have to get some sleep though because we wanted to be good and rested for the run.  It started at 8:25 and thankfully this year we had good weather.  Last year was so cold!  This year really was just perfect running weather.  Dawn and I finished all 9.5 miles in 1 hr. 42 minutes.  Not too bad!!  When we signed up for this race we were ok with the fact that we would have to walk some of it, but we ran the entire race!  I think we went numb.  Doing 8 miles last weekend had given us an idea of what it would be like and I knew real quick that if I ever stopped to walk it would be over with from there so we pushed ourselves!  About mile 7 there was the worst hill you could imagine and I thought about walking it the whole time, but after praying and praying the whole way up it we kept going.  I'm very proud of all of us and now we can set our sights on possibly doing a half marathon, but for now we will keep on with our monthly 5ks!  We need a good one for February if anyone knows of one??!
Thank you ladies for one awesome, fun weekend...laughter is the best medicine!!  Can't wait for the next girls weekend/night!

Bryce-3 months

Bryce is more like 3 1/2 months at this point but who's counting, right??  I think I've just been in denial that my baby boy is already 3 months old.  Its like the first age milestone!  Stop time, stop!  I can tell you that in these 3 short months, this little boy has completely stolen my heart and I have found another love that I never knew existed.  He is my constant snuggle buddy and I admit that he is spoiled rotten by me.  I have learned to do almost everything one handed because I hold him in the other arm!  Oh well, that's what babies are for isn't it.  I know this is a short stage in the grand scheme of things so I'm going to continue doing it.  Bryce is such a cutie and really is just a good baby.  We have been lucky to have 3 good babies!  He is now sleeping through the night which is fabulous.  That probably started right at the beginning of January when he was right at 3 months old.  We don't have a doctor's visit at 3 months so I don't have actual growth stats but I can share tons of pictures and some quick facts about him at this age.

1.  He has found his hands, and it might be the most precious thing to see him hold them together and up close to his face.  He even sucks on them every now and then when the paci falls out.

2.  He is full of smiles and coos!  And his favorite place to smile and "talk" to me is his changing table.  Of course in the morning time he is so happy and talkative.  I can lay him on his table to change him and he will smile and smile!  If you follow me on Instagram you will notice that A LOT of pictures of him are smiling on the changing table.  Definitely one of his favorite spots.  I just know he is going to grow up wondering what that pink rectangle is in his face...aka my phone!  As long as he knows to smile for it I'm good!  Here are several smiley pics on the table!!

I mean could there be a cuter face??!  I love how happy he is.

Some other things about Bryce at 3 months:

  • He still loves bath time.
  • He has discovered his hands AND how to blow bubbles
  • His big sisters are crazy about him.  Kate is all over him all the time!  I have to watch her.  All of my Instagram and Facebook friends have seen the video of her making him "wiggle".  He got quite a workout in on that one!  Kate also likes to dress him up.  Scuba Bryce was back again this month!
  • sleeps all night!  YAY for Bryce and Mama!
  • Eats usually every 3-4 hours and is taking at least 3 oz each time.  Sometimes 4.
  • Wears 3 months clothes or 0-3 months
  • Loves to snuggle and be snuggled!  He even likes to have a blanket cover part of his face to go to sleep.  That along with his paci.
  • He is getting good at holding up his head.  He looks a lot like a bobble head but so cute doing it.
  • On another note, (for my memory), he has to be the most gassy baby on the planet!  He also poops maybe once a week on a good week.  we have been told not to worry since he isn't on formula, but knowing how gassy he is, I would feel better having him go every day.  How do babies go from pooping so many times a day to never??
Here are some random pictures of him this month.  He doesn't lack to have his picture made but I will be honest, they are all usually on the iPhone.  Who would know that I do take pictures??  Slacker mom with my own kids!
