Kate's Denver Downs Field Trip

Monday it was back to school for both girls.  Kate had a field trip with First Friends so that made getting up early a lot more bearable.   She was excited and I was excited too!  It turned out to be a chilly morning but the sun was out and it did start to warm up.  It really was a beautiful day.  Her field trip was to Denver Downs farm in Anderson, SC.  We love visiting Denver Downs each year and this place is perfect for field trips.  She had went last year and Cohen actually did too.  We picked up Sug and Addison at the church and made it right on time to the farm.  Once we were all there and ready to go we had a schedule of what stations to go to when.  It was very organized!  Our first station was the hay ride to the pumpkin patch.  Each person got to pick out a pie pumpkin.  They were all so cute!  I loved all of the different shapes and sizes.  Kate picked out a tall pumpkin for her and we chose a nice little round one to take for Cohen.

We rode back to the main barn area and each class took a group picture.  The sun was brutal at that moment but they smiled as hard as they could.  It just may have included some cute squinty eyes.

After the picture we all headed to all the fun stations.  We started on the jumping pillow which is basically exactly like it sounds, one huge pillow-like trampoline.  Kate liked each station for a few minutes then she was so excited and ready to head to another.  One station in particular had her eye...the goats.  My little animal lover couldn't wait to feed the goats.  They were pretty cute and there were 2 baby goats that had just been born!  I mean so new the cords were still on them and the mama's had not quite gotten cleaned up.  Hmmm.  They were precious though!

Our last station was the hay barn with rope swing and cow train.  I think all of the kids had a blast here.  I know Kate sure did.  She jumped over and over into the hay and attempted the rope swing (finally) but I'm pretty sure she fell off as soon as she touched the rope.  It was funny to watch.  She was really enjoying herself!

After a snack and one more run through the "kiddie" maze, we were on our way.  It was such a fun trip and I LOVE days with my sweet Kate.  One on one time with each child is hard to come by sometimes so I treasure these little moments.  A funny story for the day...we decided to have lunch at Chic-Fil-A.  Kate had ate her lunch and was playing on the playground when she came out holding herself.  I quickly thought she needed a potty break but she said (in her exact words), "my butt hurts, lets check it out Mama.".  Well I told her we would have to do that in the car, not in the middle of Chic-Fil-A.  Once we got to the car I was checking her out and the girl had hay from one end to the other!  All that fun in the hay barn had left her with hay everywhere!  She had cracked me up.  We fixed the problem and she was good to go!  It was such a fun day!
