Edisto Island 2019

A week after our Pennsylvania trip we were packing up everyone to get ready for beach trip #1 for the summer.  The beach is always calling our name so we were ready to get the summer beach fun started.  This trip was with Kelly's family so we always look forward to all being together too!  This year Pop got a house at Edisto Island, which was a new place for all of us.  We left Sunday after church.   Edisto is one of the closest beaches because it did not take long at all to get there (compared to some beaches).  Since we were leaving after lunch this was a plus.  We got there got settled in and then found a pizza place for dinner.  We also made a grocery run and then we were good to go.  The rest of the week was a lot of relaxing on the beach, a few bike rides and we also did a little exploring.

The kids loved that the ice cream truck would come by every afternoon.  They had their selections down to a tee and I promise you were listening for that music!

Kate's birthday fell on Tuesday so she had a special day in Charleston.  The kids visited the aquarium while I went with Davis and Kayla to do some engagement pictures.  What better scenery?!  We got to eat at Hyman's which was delicious!  We had made Kate breakfast in bed and when we got home that night we had pink cupcakes...her request.
Hugs for the birthday girl!

Kate had another special birthday surprise on Wednesday.  Uncle Davis and Kayla had made plans to take Kate to a serpantarium on the island.  If you know Kate you know she has a love for snakes and reptiles.  She felt so special and was so excited to get to go.  Kayla took pictures there of their trip and I know she loved every minute of it.  When they got back she was so excited to show off her toy snake she got and a real rattlesnake skin.

More fun pictures from our week.  The kids absolutely loved the ocean and spent hours boogie boarding.  Even Bryce was fun to watch because he loved it.

Kate would spend hours catching fish and any other ocean animal she could get her hands on.  Uncle Davis did some ocean fishing himself and caught several baby sharks.  He even caught a hammerhead one day.  The kids LOVED this and wanted to hold each one he caught.    Bryce also wanted to hold the little fish Kate would catch with her net.

We had several rainy days but there would be some breaks in the rain and we went to an old plantation.  On the beach there was a lot of washed up driftwood, it almost reminded me of Driftwood Beach at Jekyll.  It was very neat.  It got pretty eventful leaving though because it started to rain again and these little dirt roads were muddy!   We did see someone who had got stuck and had a tow truck coming to get them.  I know we were glad to get back on paved roads!

A couple of nights we went for ice cream because is it really a beach vacation without ice cream?!  You can see here they thoroughly enjoyed it!

We enjoyed our time with our family! Another fun beach trip in the books.   I love watching my kids just enjoy themselves and the beach.  I can't wait for our next one coming up real soon!!
