Annual Church Campout

Back at the end of October we went with our church to Oconee State Park for the annual church campout.  This is the trip our kids look forward to all year.  They ask when it is, how many more weeks until it is here, and so on.  They LOVE it.  Last year rain tried to spoil the fun but of course didn't, and this year Covid may have canceled a lot but it did not cancel this!  We headed up on Friday afternoon and got settled in.  Because we have Ellington we chose to rent a cabin this year.  I couldn't imagine tent camping with her and sleeping in a bed just sounds more comfy.  After the pouring rain last year it sounded even more wonderful!  Our kids love tent camping but they also love the cabins and are used to them because we spend some time in them every year at Thanksgiving with Sug and Pop.

Other families also stay in the cabins so they have friends all over the park to play with.  We got there, got settled in, and the kids were on their bikes immediately ready for the weekend.  We hung out for a while with everyone by the campfire then decided to head on to bed.

This girl was ready to fish!

Saturday we woke up, had breakfast at the cabin and then started the fun.  Kate did more fishing, Cohen and some of her friends decided to go pedal boating, and of course more biking.  They have some fun trails around the lake that the kids love to ride on.   That afternoon everyone loaded up to go on the hike.  This year we hiked to Spoonauger Falls.

Bryce got to join all the girls in the truck on the way back

That night everyone ate, talked, and of course played Bingo.  We had to move our Bingo game from around the fire up to the shelter because it started to rain!  (Sure was glad to be in that cabin that night) At the end of the Bingo game there was one final winner who got black out and guess who it was-Bryce!  Actually Bryce and Wyatt both won but Wyatt told Bryce he could have the prize (so sweet).  The pictures of Nathan lifting Bryce up are a little blurry but you can definitely see how excited he was!  I know he will remember that for a long time.  In fact Denise is planning to make a pottery piece for him for winning and I know he will love that!

Ellington kept head butting Bryce while he was playing

Bingo champion!

I absolutely love this tradition we have with our church family.  I know it is something our kids will treasure as they grow and look back on.  I know I certainly will!  Rain or Shine!
