Thanksgiving 2020

Well I'm a lot behind on the blog but I guess that's what happens around the holidays.  Thanksgiving was our calm before Christmas & calm before Covid.  The Monday after Thanksgiving Covid hit our house so between quarantine, Christmas, and everything else that is life I am just now catching up.  So rewinding back to Thanksgiving break...we started our break off with a weekend trip to Alabama for a baton competition.  Since the competition season had been pretty much canceled back in the spring we decided to do one in November while we had the chance.  We drove down on Friday night and were staying with several of her teammates in a house.  The house turned out to be on a lake that had some dark backroads to get there.  We definitely had some laughs about that drive.  Saturday was a long day of competing and we drove back that night because I wanted to drive back vs having to get up super early to drive back.  It stinks driving so late but Cohen had a great day and she ended up winning her title so the day and drive were worth it.  I'm so proud of how hard she has continued to work through such a crazy year.  Sometimes having a competition to work toward is helpful and she and the other girls are just getting better and better even though we still don't know what our season will look like this year either.

These girls were up super early to see the sun rise on the lake.  They loved having one big slumber party together.

On Sunday we packed up again for our Thanksgiving trip to Oconee State Park with Pop and Sug.  We LOVE this trip every year.  The kids always look forward to it and it really starts our Thanksgiving week off right!   We drove up Sunday morning, everyone took family pictures first, then it was time to eat!  The best part of Thanksgiving, right?!  We ate outside this year and had the perfect weather.  The kids love playing around the lake and going back and forth between our 2 cabins.

guess who discovered their new love for cranberry sauce

Monday we always plan a hike.  This year we headed back to Burrells Ford and hiked along the river and even found a waterfall to hike up too.  Its always a beautiful hike with beautiful scenery. We ate a picnic lunch by the river too.  It was so nice to be outside!

these 2 wanted to do some trout fishing.  That ended early though because Kate fell on a rock and cut her leg open.  Mama felt it was time to quit after that.

When we got back to the cabins we decided to let them try to fish in the lake there at the park.  Bryce had no sooner thrown his line in before he caught one!  He was so excited.  Soon after that one he had caught another one!  You can only imagine how giddy he was!

Had to make sure Ellington saw it too

Trout #2

These 3 decided to go kayaking instead of fishing.  Kate tried fishing but it was crazy how quick they quit biting.  We could see them swim close but no luck for her unfortunately.

We roasted hotdogs that night and enjoyed our last night there.  Tuesday morning we had to pack up & head home.  It was back to work for Hubby & we were ready to enjoy more time off.

We celebrated with my mama & our family on Wednesday night.  Ellington loves seeing baby Jax, as long as I'm not holding him everything is fine.  When I hold him her jealousy kicks in and she screams.  She loves a "baby" though.

Thursday we got to celebrate with the Haley's.  It was a little different this year but we were still thankful to be able to get together.

And on Friday we finished our week by going to watch Brock play in their upper state championship game.  They won and would go on to win the state championship game the next weekend.  We were so proud for Brock!

Another Thanksgiving break in the books.  We started the next week off with Kelly getting sick & turns out he was positive for Covid.  Luckily he was only down for a few days.  We all went into quarantine and the kids were out of school.  Thankfully they never showed any sign of sickness even if they did have it.  I was so glad they were able to go back to school for the last week.  Bryce got to have some fun with his friends at school and Kate did too.  Cohen doesn't get the fun parties like they do but she did get to be there for testing.  I know she was thrilled!
