2021 AAU Junior Olympic Games-Houston, Texas Day 1
Rewinding things a little bit back to the beginning of August!
On August 1 we started our month off by flying to Houston, Texas for the 2021 AAU Junior Olympic games. Cohen and her baton team were competing in the baton portion of the Olympics. These girls had spent their entire summer working so hard to get ready for this competition. And when I say entire summer I mean it because we flew out Sunday for this trip and would fly back on the last flight out Wednesday night to be back home for Cohen's first day of school on Thursday! It was just she and I going on this trip so we left early on Sunday morning and headed to Atlanta. We would meet up with friends who had left from Greenville and would be on our flight from Atl to Texas. Let the fun begin!
Once we landed we made our way to our hotel. We were staying right at the convention center which was so convenient. The girls got checked in and settled and then we decided to take some time to explore around the hotel. They had some of the coolest graffiti walls within walking distance of our hotel. It was amazing to see some of these walls. Someone is extremely talented! We also got to check out the "We love Houston" sign. Our first impression of the city was a good one, and a HOT one. I think we were all drenched by the time we got back.
After our walk the girls wanted to check out the pool before dinner. Our entire team met up to eat together that night. The girls had a quick run through practice on the sidewalk too. Team day was the next morning so it was time for bed after!
Day 1 complete!
