Our summer has quickly wound down and I am struggling to let go of our carefree summer schedule. Today is actually the first day of school for the girls and I'm getting a little catch up time at home while I count down the minutes to picking them up and hearing all about their day. I'm also reminiscing on our last weeks of summer which were spent at the beach! No place I'd rather be and I'm missing these days and these friends already! Our first vacay was to our favorite little island, Amelia Island! I feel like its a home away from home really. And this year we spent it with my mom, and some awesome family and friends! Last year several of us went at the same time and we realized how much we LOVE having our friends at the beach. We get to hang out, the kids all have friends to play with, it is just the best time and it makes me love vacation that much more. We had the best week and loved every single minute of our time together. Each day we would wake up and enjoy our morning being lazy. I loved getting to eat breakfast with my mama. Sounds like such a little thing but its something I don't get to do every day and I enjoy our time getting to talk and relax. After everyone was up and had eaten we would pack up for the beach. Since our mornings were slow we would pack our lunch to eat on the beach. The kids would play all afternoon on the beach together and every so often might venture to the pool for a bit. We would come in late in the afternoon, get ready to go out, and then go eat some yummy seafood. We only stayed in one night because we have so many favorite restaurants we like to squeeze in. Kelly & Blake had to head back Wednesday evening so we missed them the last 2 days. We went shopping one morning after they had gone since that wasn't at the top of their to do list. Us girls love it and we like to have lunch at T-Rays. At night we spent our time crab hunting on the beach. Cohen & Kate had a standing meet up time with Brody & Grant and they were making sure every night that crab hunting was on. Kate threw in a few frogs too. One night we had to replace crab hunting with putt-putt though! We really had the best time and made so many sweet memories. I think we can all agree we are counting down until next year's trip!
Day1:
We arrived Saturday afternoon and after unpacking everything we headed downtown to eat at Timoti's. We were pretty tired and it was a winner especially given that Timoti's is casual, outdoor eating with a playground!! That is the deal breaker with 3 kids.
Day 2:
Sunday we were ready to head to the beach for the day and start our play fun!
Bryce was telling Bebe something! |
Of course we had to bring our bikes and that meant Bryce's bike too. he's become quite the rider! |
Before getting ice cream we found this fun little park |
Day 3:
Baby Carter got in some good beach naps |
My Beaches! |
We have been coming to Amelia for most of my life and one of our favorite places to eat was always the DownUnder. A few years ago it closed and just last year it re-opened! Sooo you can guess we were pretty excited and it did not disappoint!
We learned real quick that the best entertainment was a fish tank! Bryce could watch for hours! And this one was pretty fabulous |
After we got back it was time to find crabs!
Day 4:
Our days have a pattern similar to Luke Bryan's new song...Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset, Repeat. Auntie P did arrive Tuesday morning so we were happy to have there! I love having morning talk time with her too!
Tuesday night we got the whole group together to eat at our favorite, The Salty Pelican. We have a big group so its hard to get everyone together but we have to at least once! Plus Courtney and I say we have to celebrate our birthdays. We are 1 day apart :)
The kids did a little night swimming before catching crabs this night. I like how the guys were so relaxed watching them.
DAY 5:
We had to soak up as much beach time as possible with Daddy today because he and Blake had to leave in the afternoon. We were pretty sad to see him go but so glad he was able to spend a few days with us! By Wednesday Bryce had gotten very brave playing in the ocean. He loved being out there floating over the big waves. He had a few big "crashes" as he called it. HE would say the wave "crashed him". He would get back out there though.
these 3 boogie boarded ALL DAY! |
I loved catching this sweet sister moment. They can be sweet to each other sometimes . And I did not change one thing about their hair when we went out because it was too precious to even want to |
We headed to the Crab Trap that evening. Its always a favorite of ours and we wanted to eat at Paula's favorite place since she was going to have to leave Thursday afternoon.
B was proud of his picture |
We had to make a Target run after dinner and walking in Kate got this little green tree frog!
The moon was getting close to being full and was so pretty that night. |
Part of the night's catch. The crab caught on to the fish |
After crabs she caught this huge frog! |
We broke up our regular routine Thursday by going downtown to do some shopping. We love looking in all the local shops and afterwards we all went to T-Rays for lunch. They have the best cheeseburgers!
Found sissy the perfect shirt! |
We had some rain that afternoon which was quick and then spent some time on the beach. It was a perfect picture afternoon too!
Our crab hunting was traded in for putt-putt Thursday night too. The kids had a ball!
Looking pretty comfy! |
Its always so sad when the last day rolls around. We soaked up our last day of beach time as long as possible. It always makes me sad walking up for the last time. We made so many fun memories and enjoyed each other so much. There's just something about vacation. I took this picture because it was Kate's little toys set up in some sort of fashion. I'm not sure what she was playing but she had her animals out. She had bought some new snakes in one of the stores downtown. That girl loves her animals especially the reptiles!
Cohen loved getting some baby Carter love |
Cute cousins! (and friends) |
Bryce got some good nap time in. Vacation fun does wear you out! |
