Every year for the last 6 years we have visited Sky Top Apple Orchard. We first went before we had any kids, except Dooley, when we still lived in Charlotte. I was actually pregnant with Cohen the first time we went. We fell in love with the place and have been back every year since. We have made it a tradition to go with our friends in Charlotte.
With all the good weather we've been having, we had the itch to head on up to Sky Top for an early visit. My friend Erin had told me they were picking apples already and most importantly they were making their WONDERFUL apple cider donuts. That was enough for me! Its not that bad of a drive for us so we thought we would go a few times this fall. Those donuts are worth the drive and they also have the best apple cider slushies! Only a few kinds of apples are being picked right now, but it was an awesome day to go. There wasn't a big crowd there and it felt wonderful. We really got the fall itch after being up there for the afternoon. The girls loved getting to pick apples. Kate was fascinated by all of them and kept thinking they were balls. She also kept going for the apples on the ground instead of in the tree. I think their favorite part was seeing the farm animals. They fed the ducks, geese, goats, and sheep. We really had to watch Kate because she wanted to reach through the fence to touch them and these animals are always thinking you have food so they are ready to bite on something! We let them play on the playground for a while too. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I'm already counting down the days until we go back with our friends. I had to bring home some donuts to hold me over though :)

An attempt to get a picture of Kate standing there |
Making Donuts! |
A little piece of heaven...mmm, mmm! |
The view is so pretty, especially when the leaves start to change! |
Waving to the geese and ducks |
A good shot of Cohen getting on to Kate for climbing up the slide backwards |
Cohen wanted to take our picture...so funny watching her hold the big camera :) |
While Kelly and Cohen played hide and go seek, I watched Kate on the playground. The girl is such a climber! She was trying to climb up the steps, falling through, but finally made it up and was so proud! She would play peek-a-boo with me and just laugh and laugh. She is such a mess but I think she's the cutest mess there is!
Pee-Pie! |
If you look real close in this picture you will see a long line of drool/spit. Kate was leaning over the edge and watching herself spit. She did it over and over...I'm telling you this girl is a sight! Between my 2 girls there is always a good laugh to be had! I love it and I am soaking it all in :)
I remember you writing about this place last year! Looks like so much fun. We have never been apple picking, but I want to go this year for sure.
