A waif reunion weekend

This weekend I got to see some of my favorites from N.C. and Pennsylvania-Tina, Tara, and Jessica (or the waifs).  The girls came to visit us in GA and we had a blast catching up and of course just laughing at everything.   We had not been together since Tara's wedding in September, way too long.  When we get together we are guaranteed a fun time with lots of laughs.  I took the girls to Commerce to do a little shopping and for a merry-go-round ride for Cohen and Jessica...

I guess your never too old for a ride:) Jessica is such a good sport with Cohen even though it may have been her idea to ride :)

After the girls went to bed we were able to play Kelly's new favorite game he got for Valentine's, Wits and Wagers, and we had so much fun laughing.  To me there is nothing better than laughing so hard you cry.  I wish I had that every day!  I love it!
What I didn't know would happen was selling my car!  Tina was in need of a car (on the days she doesn't ride her bike, of course) and we had one to sell and guess what, we did!  Tina decided to change her flight plans and take the Trailblazer back home!  Waifs are also good for buying/selling cars.  I get so attached to things and that includes my car so I am so happy to know it will have a good home!!  I can only hope it is as good of a car for Tina as it was for me.  Hubby washed and vacuumed the car out and then we headed off to Greenville to take Tina to drop off her rental.  What a fun weekend we had, and I'm already counting down to our next one, so waifs lets make it soon!!

Jess found her some new sunglasses in the trailblazer...I threw them in when Tina bought the car

Kate Daniels-9 months

I can't believe I'm typing Kate's 9 month post.   I feel like I just did the 8 month.  These months are passing way too fast.  I also haven't been blogging as much or it feels that way but not because there is a lack of things going on for sure.  Kate recently turned 9 months old and I waited a week to make this post thinking I would get a chance to sit with her and make some cute pictures but so far I haven't done that.  We also haven't went for her official 9 month check-up but I didn't want to wait for that since it is still a couple of weeks away.  We did make a Dr's visit this week because she has battled such a bad cold and runny nose.  It turned out to be a cold and also an ear infection.  I hate when she is all stuffed up because that is just a helpless feeling.  She just takes it like a champ though.  I've said this many many times but Kate has to be the happiest little girl ever!  This baby is like sunshine to me and she is always full of smiles.
I'm glad I waited a few days too because Kate just yesterday pulled up for the first time.  She started crawling last month and that is the one thing that feels like it happened a while back.  She is a little mover!  I get a workout chasing her around.  Kate loves to get into anything she isn't supposed to be in, my plants (she loves to eat leaves and dirt or at least put them in her mouth), the dog's food and water, the fireplace, dog toys, and her most favorite is finding any teeny tiny speck of something in the floor to try to pick up and eat.  I call her my little goat.  She loves to eat food but she still has NO teeth.  I've been told that the longer it takes the better the teeth so I'm not worried at all.  In a playroom full of toys Kate tends to play with Daddy's drum set, cd covers or to try to pull up at Cohen's little picnic table.  I've told Cohen we have to make sure we pick everything up now since Kate will eat it.   I'll hopefully have more pictures to post soon and will definitely put an update after her check-up, but here is all about Kate now at 9 months:
  • Weight-18 lbs 8 oz
  • STILL NO TEETH
  • She is now pulling up!
  • Into EVERYTHING, and this baby girl moves very fast
  • Wears 6-9 mos. or 6-12 mos. depending on the brand
  • Has enough hair now for a bow and can't do headbands anymore
  • Loves to "talk" and will wave her hands a lot or do a little "point" gesture with her fingers
  • Sleeps through the night some nights, but most of the time will wake up to take a bottle once and that's usually around 5:00 am
  • Is so happy and laid back. I would have several more babies if I were guaranteed they would be this good!!

Cohen and her "plugs"

If Cohen loves anything its dancing and singing.  She LOVES to sing to the radio when we are in the car and she really gets into it.  Kelly and I keep saying how we have got to record her singing in the car because her facial expressions are priceless.  She has always been a big Taylor Swift fan and now that has expanded to just about anything I listen to.  When we get in the car she knows what she wants to hear and fortunately we have bluetooth on the new car but sometimes I don't always want to hear what she does.  I told her recently that I would give her one of my old iPods and she was so excited.  I was getting it charged  up and all she kept asking me was "can I have my plugs?"  "can I listen to my plugs now?"   It really cracked me up because I never mentioned the ear phones and I wouldn't have called them plugs but she did.  Today she asked about her "plugs" and the iPod was finally charged and loaded with all her favorite songs.  Cohen is now set and this is all I've seen this afternoon...

Just a few weeks ago we celebrated my Mama's birthday and I just realized I never posted the picture I took on the night we celebrated.  This is my mama with my girls and 2 of my sister's boys.  She is missing Chance, Paula's middle son.  You can see that even Dooley worked his way into the picture a little bit which is good since he is the spoiled grand-dog. I think she had a good birthday and enjoyed celebrating with everyone.  She got to drag it out a week or so too which is always the best way!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

This week we have been studying Dr. Seuss at school since today was his birthday.  I love some quotes from Dr. Seuss but I have to admit that some of his books are really out there.  Not to mention tongue twisters!  We saved 2 of the best books for today which were "The Cat in the Hat" and "Green Eggs and Ham".  We cooked green eggs & ham and then we had a special guest, Mrs. Margaret, come and read "The Cat in the Hat".  All the kids had made their own hat earlier in the week so they could wear them today.   Its so funny to hear them all talk about how they like eggs but not green eggs but then once they have some on their plate they love them! Cohen really enjoyed hers and I was surprised!  She is hesitant to try new things or things she thinks may be bad but she is also real good to eat things in group settings with other kids so that probably helped.   It was a fun day at school.  Since we had just had a week off for winter break the first week back is always the hardest.  I'm excited about the weeks ahead, we have some fun things planned and spring is almost here!!

A Whole Bunch of Randoms

In our house the camera (or the iPhone) is always close by and handy so we can snap pictures of any funny or cute moment that might arise, and with 2 children they always DO!  These pictures may not get a blog post and I am terrible about posting pictures to facebook even though with Instagram I'm getting a little better.  These pictures may not matter as much to anyone other than us but I still thought it would be fun to do a blog post on several of the random pictures I've taken over the past month.  Some with my phone some with my camera.  As a mom I could take a picture of my girls every day even if its just because I think they look cute in their clothes, thats what us moms do :)  I'm proud to show my babies off and I love all of these cute day to day moments.

Happy Valentine's Day

We had a very nice Valentine's Day.  We started our day going to story time at the library and Cohen made a Valentine's bracelet and the kids all exchanged Valentine's and had snacks. After lunch I had to run to Commerce for some things and the girls were good for me the whole time.  Cohen always enjoys Commerce because of all the merry-go-rounds and little cars she can sit in.  So far she still only thinks the Merry-go-round is the one that moves and I've always wondered how long this would last.  I'm sure not much longer and then she will want money to put in all of them!  I think its so cute.  For Valentine's night we all went to spend it with my Mama, my sister and my nephews.  Kelly and I had been on our Valentine date on Sunday night when we went to the movies to see The Vow so it was nice to spend it with my family.
When Kelly got home he had a Valentine for Cohen from him since I had already given the girls their Valentine's from me.  Cohen opened her card and loved his picture that he drew for her and then just looked at him and said "What else do you have me, this is just a card?" You can see she had already opened a few cards with treats earlier in the day. We both laughed but then had a big conversation with her on how you don't always get presents for every holiday and how she needs to learn to be thankful for what she gets and already has.  Kelly did give her a little basketball goal to put on the back of the door for them to play with.  I do love her excited face when she opens something even when she has no idea what it is:)

Gym Dawgs!

Last Friday night Cohen got to experience her first GymDawgs meet in Athens.  We had a girls night out with several of our friends and it was so much fun!  I love watching the Gym Dawgs and have always loved going to see them and since Cohen now takes gymnastics I thought it would be fun for her to see them too.  She was just as excited about the dance music at the beginning of the meet.  She told me that she wanted to be a dancer, cheerleader and a gymnast when she went to this school.  Ambitious!  Half way through the meet though she had crawled up in my lap and went to sleep so I'm not sure how the gymnastics goal is going to work out :)  The next time we go I'll be sure she has a nap earlier in the day!  She did like what she saw though and I really enjoyed it.  Its always fun to watch the Gym Dawgs win and that's just what they did!
