And then it was December! The last month of 2020 and we were so ready for some Christmas fun. It seemed like Covid took a big spike in our area about the first of December (us included). A lot of activities weren't happening this year or looked a lot different. One thing about Christmas time is we like to do small things here at home or close to home. We baked, we went to see Christmas lights, watched lots of Christmas movies, and Cohen had her Christmas show at baton and dance. Thankfully our family and us were all healthy by Christmas day and we were all able to be together. There's just something about the holidays that make you want to be near to family. Even with all the hard times this year we still had so much to be thankful for and to celebrate!
Here's a look at some of our December/Christmas fun!
First up-Seeing Santa!!
We mailed letters to Santa of course! Thanks to Shelley Phillips for being a good elf and helping get them there!
We got to see the Christmas parade and get some candy since we didn't already have enough.
Saw some lights, in our pj's!
And quarantined together which is always fun right? Ellington?

Ellington got to see Santa one more time when Mama took pictures for the preschool. This time she was much more happy to sit with him.
We had fun birthday/Christmas party with our friends! Not many pictures other than Bryce getting in some ping pong action with Kelly & Keaton and Ellington bonded over the cell phone.
We celebrated in Gainesville with Papa, Aunt Vicki and Aunt Danette. The kids loved every minute of it!
Cookie baking time at home with my little elves. How cute are they in their aprons?! Bryce and Ellington weren't much help at all other than taste testing.
On Christmas Eve we got a special visit from one of our favorites...Buddy the Elf!
We had our family together on Christmas Eve at Sug and Pop's. This is one of our favorite traditions and I'm sure I say that every year but it really is. Lydia cooks the best meal! This year we did the advent candles with the kids and they really enjoyed that. Pop always reads "Twas the Night Before Christmas", and then we came home to put out reindeer food and cookies for Santa. Christmas comes so fast! I love the build up to it. Its always a little sad when its over.
If you're wondering what Bryce is doing with his hand, he said he was doing an S in sign language for Santa. LOL. This kid cracks me up. |

Ended our night at Bebe's house!
Kelly and I made a big purchase in December. We bought land!! Its a whole lot of woods but hopefully it will be fun for the kids to play on and maybe a new home one day!
I love that Christmas break means catching up with my friends I don't see all the time!
We took a little trip to Athens for some fun. We made a quick stop by Nana's grave. We had not been & the kids had asked so we went. I would give anything to have been able to go by her house & see her in person. She was the best and we miss her so much!
We left and went downtown to eat and took Bryce by the stadium. He is obsessed with football and has missed being able to go in person. As we were driving around campus we rode by Stegman and saw people going in. Turns out the men's basketball team had a game at 7:00 & it was 6:57. Kelly hopped out while I drove around & bought tickets. I parked and in we went to watch the Dawgs play basketball. I love a spontaneous little adventure even if it meant we didn't have on our red and black. In fact Kate was sporting her mud and grass stained sweatpants with camo crocs. Not that that is anything different for her. We enjoyed it though even though the Dawgs didn't pull out a win. It is a little sad at how slim the crowd is due to Covid. You are definitely socially distanced. A plus for the kids was that we got on the big jumbotron twice so their night was made.
We finished our night with a trip to the prettiest Chick-Fil-A around. This place is beautiful at the holidays & is definitely worth the trip.
We finished 2020 by celebrating (yes, bye bad year) with our closest friends. New Year's Eve was definitely scaled down this year. We ate, hung out, then had the fireworks. Ellington hung in the entire night. She was a little unsure about the loud fireworks but did pretty good. Here's to another year! I hope 2021 is a great one full of fun, blessings, and time spent with the people who matter most. No matter what it holds remember God is in control, His plan is perfect and together we will get through it all! Happy New Year!
