Kate's First Haircut

Annie & Kate after her haircut!
Yesterday Kate had her very first hair cut!  I decided it was past time and called my best friend LeAnne to do the job.  Kate's hair is a lot different from Cohen's.  Cohen had cute little curls at the bottom of her hair and Kate's hair is just like mine...straight as a stick!  Bless her little heart!  It was getting pretty long in the back and starting to be a baby mullet so we knew it was time for a trim.  Its also very long on the side/front of her face but I know we have to deal with this while its growing out.  Right now she has a "pebbles" ponytail almost every day.  I really just don't know what else to do with it.  I love it though and she rocks her little ponytail :)
After lunch we headed over to see "Annie" at the shop.  Kate was getting so sleepy and it was so funny because the entire time LeAnne was trimming her hair it looked like Kate was going to be put to sleep.  She did so good!!   I think she was in a trance.  Maybe it felt so good to have someone else comb her hair and cut it but whatever it was she did an awesome job.  We all just laughed at her because she had these funny looks on her face.  LeAnne would talk to her and get right down at her and she would just sit so still and stare.  She is too funny.  Needless to say her "first" haircut was a success and we'll see how fast it grows now until we need haircut #2.

I also have to add a couple of snapshots I've taken over this past week.  The first one is Kate sporting a bunny mask of Cohen's.  She loves to wear dress up items on her head and now she has discovered the fun of these masks.  If I put one on she will laugh and laugh at me.  I just happened to get the cutest picture of her putting the mask on.  Its so big on her that it only stays in place for a few seconds.
The second picture is of Kate trying to help Cohen with her trash chore.  Cohen helps empty the trash cans each week and she gets a reward on her reward chart plus Kelly gives her $1.  This is a big deal to her.  This week Kate decided she was going to help out and she picked up the trash can under my desk and walked away with it.  I'm pretty sure she came right back still carrying the trash can but it was so funny to watch her.  I told her to take the trash to sissy and she started to, but then decided having her sissy chase her for it would be more fun.  The fun sisters can have!

Climbing Kate

Yesterday morning I was cleaning up in the kitchen.  Kate was playing in the playroom which is a big room right beside our kitchen.  I could hear the usual sounds of her in the room, pushing the stroller, dumping all the toy food out, playing with the grocery cart, etc...  A few minutes later I heard the sound of the buttons on the play kitchen microwave.  If you read my earlier post this week you saw Kate standing on her princess ride-on to reach the microwave.  She loves those buttons!  Well when I heard this I was curious as to how she was reaching them this time, so I came to investigate.  With Kate you never know!  This is what I found...it shows that this little monkey will find a way to do what she wants and doesn't have a care in the world while she's doing it.

"what?!?  Can't a girl climb in the kitchen sink?"

What We've Been Up To...

We have been on the go with our fall schedule lately.  We are getting settled into a routine each week, and things are definitely busy.   I had a few pictures and stories that I wanted to post since this is like my online journal!
These pictures are from last Sunday when we went to church with Nana for her 80th birthday.  I had forgotten to post them earlier last week.  It was so special for Nana to have her family with her at church and we enjoyed being there with her on her special day!  She is so special to us so its fun to be able to see her so excited and happy.  I was also able to snap a quick picture of the girls.  They are both just getting so big!

I have some pictures to share on each girl too.  I'll start with Cohen.  I don't do updates on Cohen each month and in reality she is learning and changing so much too!  She is really into so much right now.  She is so interested in learning things.  She has workbooks that we do that helps her with her words, math, and letters and numbers.  I still think she is going to be my little smartie.  She is also real big into Legos right now.  She will sit and build houses with her legos or whatever the book shows.  We call her our little architect.  As long as Kate keeps them out of her mouth we are good!  Cohen still loves to do puzzles and can do big puzzles with a lot of pieces, and is very good at them.  Of course she is loving her babies and Barbies too!  It amazes me how fast she is growing.  I'm really enjoying my time at home with her.  On our way to gymnastics last week Cohen and Savannah were asking me questions and got to talking about what they wanted to be when they grew up.  Cohen told me she was going to be a 2nd grade teacher.  I laughed because she was so exact on saying what grade.  When I asked her why 2nd grade she told me it was because "2 was her favorite number."
Another Cohen story, Saturday night we were watching the Georgia game and she came to me with Kelly's GA hat and her baby doll.  She put the baby in the cap and told me she was taking her baby's newborn picture :)  I loved it because she has watched me do newborn sessions with babies and has seen them in hats, baskets and anything else I may use.  Just a reminder of how observant she is!  She then took her dolls and posed them for me to take pictures of them.  She is so funny sometimes.

Yesterday, Cohen got to go to her friend Ramsey's 5th birthday party.  It was a swim party and she loved getting to swim again.  It had been a while since she had been swimming.  I think it reminded her of how much she loves it because she told me she wanted to get her baby pool back out and she also was ready to go back to the beach.  That's my girl for sure!

Happy Birthday Ramsey!!

And now for Kate!  My little daredevil!  Kate is the most precious thing.  I love this stage she is at.  She is into everything but its so cute watching her learn new things.  Not only is she learning new words, but she is learning what things are, how to do things, and how to figure things out.  Its amazing to watch her play.  She loves to line her toys up in a row.  She is real big into Sesame Street right now too.   This is about the only time she will sit still for a long amount of time.  She loves Elmo and just points to the T.V. and babbles.   Her new word is "more" which she says "muh, muh".  She has pointing down pat which also lets me know what she wants.  She loves to find her glow worm or baby doll that you have to mash their belly to do something and bring them to me for me to make them make sounds.  I can show her the spot to press and she will try to do it and sometimes she does.  She will then smile so big because she's so proud of herself.  Lately she is into wearing a crown on her head.  She gets into the dress up clothes and finds her a tiara and wears it.  Now she mostly puts it on upside down or backwards but it is so cute to watch her.  One thing we have got to do very soon is get her hair trimmed.  It is really getting long and she has a baby mullet going on back there :)

Today Kate kept coming to me and pointing at the microwave in her little kitchen.  She wanted me to mash the buttons or pick her up so she could reach them.  Every time I put her down she would stretch so hard to reach them but came up so short each time.  I pushed her princess ride-on over to the kitchen thinking she could use it as a stool but we had to leave to go get Cohen before I could show her.  Later this afternoon this is what I saw...she figured it out on her own :)  This little girl is smart, and has no fear with anything.  Climbing on this was a piece of cake.

Saturday morning we took a trip back to Sky Top apple orchard with Kelly's family.  I'm always up for a donut and slushie run!  We had to be back early in the afternoon so it was a quick trip.  We ran into some friends of ours from Charlotte, Scott and Laura!  It was a nice surprise to see them.  Scott and Kelly had worked together in Charlotte.  It really is a small world!  This trip was more crowded but of course we managed to get some yummy donuts and more apples :)  Who knows, we may get another chance to go back in October.  That's when my favorite apple start coming in!

A Fun Night at the Fair & School Fun

It has been such a crazy week that I haven't been able to catch up on blogging.   I wanted to be sure to blog about the little fair we went to in Carnesville last Friday night.  It was a small fair and we knew it would be so we thought we would probably only be there about an hour or so.  3 hours later we were heading home.  Even though it was small, we had so much fun.  I personally enjoyed watching Cohen so much.   She had a blast!  She was riding all the rides she could and even getting on rides we never thought she would ride.  She was sliding down the big bounce house slides, riding the merry-go-round, the kiddie ferris wheel and then headed to the big swings, a spinning ride similar to the teacups at Disney, and the big Ferris Wheel.  We met up with her friend Rylie while we were there and they had fun riding together.  We also met up with some of our friends, Brad and Rebekah, and their families.  Cohen rode the swings 3 times in a row.  We just knew she would be so dizzy but she wasn't.  She would hold her hands in the air like she was on a roller coaster all while these swings went faster and faster.  It was fun watching her have so much fun.  At the end she rode the little Ferris wheel with her cousin Taylor then they both wanted on the big Ferris wheel so I rode that one with them.  They both loved it but after that ride you could tell they were both getting tired.  Of all nights I forgot my camera!  I took some pictures with my phone but they aren't the best since it was slowly getting dark.  It was a fun night though and being with friends made it even better!

Cohen & Rylie

This week I've been subbing for Sara at the preschool.  I've had Kate with me too.  She has had a blast watching the "big" kids and they have showered her with more attention than she could ask for.  Her favorite part was playing on the playground.  She loved the bicycle merry-go-round.  I had to take a picture of her because it was just too cute!

I think Cohen is getting her first crush as well!  This is a picture of her and Brody.  Today her and her best friend Kaylyn were asking him who he was going to marry :)  Brody said "nobody" and Cohen came to me and asked me if I would "go talk to him".  I thought this was hilarious.  It was a story I had to write down so I will be able to pull it out in about 10 years :)  Brody's mom, Courtney and I will get a kick out of it for sure!

Cohen's First Georgia Game

Saturday was a BIG day for us!  We were so excited that it was Georgia Football time again and this year it was time for Cohen to go to her first game!  We had talked about when would be a good time to take Cohen and we thought that she was old enough to be able to stay for a game or at least most of it and be ok.   Since we are huge Georgia fans we wanted to start training her up right :)  We have been listening to the Redcoat band cd in the car and she loves the songs.  Every time the fight song or any of the songs come on, Cohen just laughs and laughs and waves her arms around dancing.
Friday night we had a nice get together with family at Nana's house in Athens and we spent the night since we would be going to the game Saturday morning.  Cohen wasn't too excited because she really wanted to stay at Nana's but we knew she would love it once we got going and we were right.  As soon as she started seeing the flags waving and tailgaters she perked right up.  I am really amazed at how well she did the entire day.  She didn't complain about walking to the stadium and it was extremely HOT on Saturday.  She only talked about sweating a few times.  She was better than me!  I felt like I was melting and just sitting in a pool of sweat.
We got to the game early so we could take her to the Dawg Walk.  She loved listening to the band play and got really excited seeing the cheerleaders.  She liked the pretty dance and majorette costumes too.  She later told us that her favorite part was getting a high five from Hairy Dawg at the Dawg Walk.  After watching the team come through we headed over to see "Russ" aka Uga IX.  She asked me if Uga and Hairy Dawg were best friends :)  We met our friends Vance and Liz and sat together at the game.  Cohen was set on getting some cotton candy.  We had bought drinks and hot dogs but she still wanted cotton candy.  She and I walked around to find some but had no luck, then Kelly took her to try to find the man selling it and had no luck so he talked her into some fruity popcorn.  Well while they were gone guess who I saw...the cotton candy man.  I tried calling Kelly but no answer.  When they came back to our seats I told Kelly to look to the left.  You can guess that after seeing the cotton candy man Cohen wanted no part of the popcorn and wanted Kelly to track the man down...guess who won...
that is Kelly in the striped shirt after running down the cotton candy man
Once she had the cotton candy the rest of the game was smooth sailing.  She took it all in!  She would clap when we scored and dance to the fun songs that were played.  During halftime she really took in the band's performance.  We stayed until halfway through the 4th quarter and I think the whole experience is one she will remember.  She did tell us she was ready to go back again.  Maybe we can take her back to a cooler game :)  All in all though it was so fun taking my sweet girl to her first game.  She officially bleeds red & black now!  And it was sweet as always to watch the Dawgs win "between the hedges!"  GOOOOO DAWGS!!!

Here come the Bulldogs!

Dancing!

She was out as soon as we got in the car
I can't forget about my other little bulldawg.  Kate stayed back with Sugie and Nana.  I know she was cheering hard there though :)  When we got back to Nana's she was wound up and having a ball.   She has really been having a tough time cutting her molars.  Poor baby has a runny nose and just hasn't felt good since Saturday.  You can't tell too much in these pictures but she is covered in drool and has a runny nose.
